The Youth Camp is located 40 miles Northeast of Globe, Arizona, on Workman Creek in the Sierra Ancha Mountain Range. Directions can be found at the Maps link.
The camp is located on 7.83 acres adjacent to Workman Creek. The camp is surrounded by forest and the elevation is 5600' It is open in the Months of May through October each year, and there is a Camp Host on site for each group utilizing the camp.
The camp consists of a large main hall with a craft/first aide room, kitchen with facilities and a covered patio. The commercial style kitchen has stainless steel sinks and work spaces, 2 refrigerator/freezers, range, oven, and cookware. There are separate male/female restrooms with hot and cold water and shower facilities.
There are 9 cabins at the camp that have bunks for 8 people in each cabin. The camp has a generator to supply electricity for the camp. There is a potable water well that supplies water to the kitchen and restrooms/shower rooms. There is a large open fire pit available permitted by the U.S. Forest Service.
The camp is located on Workman Creek adjacent to the Sierra Ancha Wilderness area. Encounters with wild animals and reptiles are always a distinct possibility. Sightings of bears, wolves, or dangerous reptiles should be reported immediately to the Camp Host. Workman Creek is subject to flash flooding during the rainy season and the area is also subject to lightning during summer rain storms.
The members of the Arizona Elks Association and its member Lodges have spent a vast amount of time, energy and money to refurbish the camp to benefit the youth of Arizona. The maintenance of the camp is never ending so we ask the groups using the camp to help keep it in good condition.
Youth groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, Explorers, Camp Fire Girls, 4-H, CASA, Church Groups and other Youth Service Organizations are welcome to use the camp at no charge. There is a refundable $200 Security/No Show deposit required at the time of booking.
Each group using the camp must present to the camp director proof of liability insurance coverage which includes coverage for sexual abuse/molestation. The liability insurance coverage shall be for not less than $1,000,000 and shall contain an endorsement demonstrating Arizona Elks Major Projects, Inc. as an additional insured party under the policy.
Reservations can be made at the Reservation Calendar. Once submitted, the reservation will appear as pending until the Security/No Show Deposit and Insurance information is received.
